What is literature ?

Literature has always been there with human race, since from the very early stage of human race. Literature is not the thing which had came only after the invention of writing technology and human habit of recording.

In its childhood literature was full of fantasy and imagination of abstract ideas and experiences.in this stage literature was basically in oral form. It was not like Hegel's concept about history "that what is written only that can be called literature". It is very nerrow way of looking at literature. Thus one has to bore in mind that literature not always written thing.

The history of literature is the history of human race and its development. As the human race developed from stage to stage, so the literature.  As human race has gone through several stages of developments in the same way literature has also gone through several stages of developments. And these developments turns out as the genre of literature, and in each stage it has developed it subjects and subject matters different from previous one or overlapping the previous one.

Literature is the thing which has always been progressive in nature and it has accepted everything what comes in its ways, more in that it has always highlighted the neglects of the society and in this way it is inclusive in nature.

I would like to define it as 

" its all about humans and human surroundings". Secondly it is " A written or spoken words which expresses human feelings, emotions and experience of an individual and of group of people applied to larger level can be called literature ".

Literature saves your time- : literature ultimately the greatest time saver because it gives us access to the range of the emotions and experience that would take you to years, decades and millennium to try to experience directly.  It lets you speed up time, in order archive our life from childhood to old age. 

Literature is the greatest reality simulator a machine to procedure infinitely more situations and you can ever directly witness. It let's you safely ever crucial see what is life today.

Writer opens our heart and minds and give us maps to our ownselves, so we can travel in more reliably and lesser of the feeling of paranoiac, persecution. As the writer Emerson remarked " in works of great writers we find our own neglected faults, literature is a corrected to those superficiality in compromising in friendships. Books are our true friends always at hand and never busy, giving us unvarnished plans, what things we really like?

All of our lives our greatest fear is failing, most interestingly a lot of literature is about the failure, in one or other way the great many novels, plays, poems are about people who have messed up in life. Like Oedipus, Hamlet, Othello, Monty from Sense of an Ending etc. There are endless examples can be added to this list.
