Hope

Hello friends here I made an analysis of the unknown poem. Here I tried to do it with the help of practical criticism, the branch of practical criticism was founded by I.A.Richards. In his practical approach he gives more importance to the words that are used in the poems, than the external things like time, place and biographical history of the poet. He believed that the poet writes to communicate, and language is the means of communication. Language is made of words, and hence a study of words is all important if we are to understand the meaning of the work of the art. His practical approach is well known, he gave poems to his students and then he gave suggestions, comments and interpretation of those poems. Here I’m doing the same thing. And thanks to my sir to give me a chance to do it. Here is the poem of which I tried to do analysis. “Hope” is the thing with feathers - That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all - And...

Review on "Animal Farm" by George Orwell

Image
Animal farm is political satire written by well-known twentieth century novelist George Orwell. It was first published in 1945. It is allegorical and dystopia satire wholly written in personifications where humans were given the name of animals according to their characteristics. It symbolically and metaphorically speaks about the contemporary issues of 1940s. The socialism and  Stalinist  were major at that time and this novella presents how a revolution that started with the great vision of socialism turned out in to complete opposite of that. The vision for whom one had fight for and the person whom we have supported join hands with enemy and then starts exploit their own people. The novel also teaches that how the Socialism turns out the Dictatorship.   Old pig named Major had a dream in which he saw that all animal has revolted against humans and freed themselves. In few days he died and now the dream became vision for all animals living in Manor Farm. In...

Ancient vs Modern

Ancient vs Modern: Isn't it stupid to think who is better? To me nothing is inferior nothing is superior. Whether it is modern or ancient both are same. It’s an idea to extract our self from others. In fact what is ancient for us might be the Modern in their times. And which is modern for us will be ancient for the next generation. For example Shakespeare in his days he was considered as popular play write, but now considered as classic, the same with the Novel like David copper Field, of Sense and Sensibility, or any other text which we are studying as classics of literature were popular in their time. In the above given article the main issue is conflict between the old generation and new generation, obviously it’s inevitable in first aspect but there is another way too that is both should have respect for each other. We find this conflict in literature recorded very well for example in Virginia Woolf’s ‘To The Light House we find the clear difference in the thinking process of...
