Ancient vs Modern
Ancient vs Modern: Isn't it stupid to think who is better? To me
nothing is inferior nothing is superior. Whether it is modern or ancient both
are same. It’s an idea to extract our self from others. In fact what is ancient
for us might be the Modern in their times. And which is modern for us will be
ancient for the next generation. For example Shakespeare in his days he was
considered as popular play write, but now considered as classic, the same with
the Novel like David copper Field, of Sense and Sensibility, or any other text
which we are studying as classics of literature were popular in their time. In
the above given article the main issue is conflict between the old generation
and new generation, obviously it’s inevitable in first aspect but there is
another way too that is both should have respect for each other. We find this
conflict in literature recorded very well for example in Virginia Woolf’s ‘To
The Light House we find the clear difference in the thinking process of both
old and new whether it is James and Mr.Ramsay or it is Lily and Caroline, in
Arthur Millers’ All My Sons there is conflict between son and father Joe Keller
and Chris Keller. Surely it is stupidity to think or to say who is better,
because every generation has something new that’s why it is different from the
previous one so it is that conflict or the newness that makes it modern or
ancient. We should accept both and try to get the golden mean from both, we
should observe and accept not judge that is the best way to solve this endless
discussion as well as conflict.
