Swamp Dwellers by Wole Soyinka

The swamp dwellers is a play written by Nigerian play wright sole Soyinka. The subject of the play is the contemporary picture of Nigeria. The story of the play is breaking of the family as effect of colonialism in Nigeria in the early twentieth century. Makuri is father in in the family an elder person. ALU is mother in the family. This couple has two sons respectively Auchike and Igwazu. The nature and personality of both son are contrasting. Igwazu has respect for the tradition, his parents, and his village. Auchike has no care about his parents, he is self-centered person. Igwazu lives with his parents in village where as Auchike living far from parents In some city since last ten years and has not send a single letter or money to his parents neither he visited the city in these ten years.
When the play opens six month has been passed since Igwazu with his wife Desala gone to city And he is going g to come home today. Igwazu gone to city with hope of earning more money as the atmosphere in the village are adverse and anti life and has a little possibility to sustain.ALU and Makuri are eagerly waiting for their son with hope that igwazu will bring some good news about their elder son. But when he returned back alone even without her wife it was shocking to his parents. In the course of the the play we get the picture of the Nigeria which is very dark, poor and lifeless in this extreme situation we get the so.e information about he Yoruba culture, and their customs. In Yoruba women are treated as things.

#Masaan movie review

Recently released Bollywood movie “#Masaan” highly appreciated in ‘Cannes Film Festival’ for its cinematography, symbols, dialogues, acting and storytelling. But, I’m sure most of you haven’t even heard the name of the movie. It was released in last July. Souls are said to be liberated in Kashi, and #Masaan(Smashan). In this way title is symbolic as well as significant. It captures the unique character of a town-Allahabad which has been wrestling with life and death for centuries. Director has presented the place as it is, its beauty and ugliness. #Masaan a desolate place follows two heart breaking tales. One is of Devi whose life condemned after caught in the act(in Hotel With ‘Piyush’). The second plot is of a lower caste boy Deepak, Who falls in love with ‘Shalu’ at first-sight. The white tiger novel published in 2008 by Indian young writer Arvind Adiga, which won him glittering Man Booker Prize of the year 2008. The novel presents India in quite different and unacceptable way and by and large this India would be unexpected by most Indians. The novel has simple plot that how a poor man from countryside becomes an entrepreneur in present globalizing India.                                     The story is divided in six nights every night he tells the biography of an entrepreneur. Every night a narrator tells the story to a Chinese premier. The way of telling a story is quite different and innovative. In the first night the narrator is listening to the radio, and he listen that a Chinese premier Jiabao is coming to India to know the story of how entrepreneurs are growing in India.
